Open educational resources (OER) are free and openly licensed educational materials that can be used for teaching, learning, research, and other purposes.

The CSCU OER Advisory Council serves as a critical community champion of the Open Education Resources (OER) movement. The mission of the Council is to utilize talents and strengths within the system to advocate for student accessibility and affordability as well as faculty academic freedom within the system. Members of the CSCU OER Advisory Council contribute their professional expertise; their vast networks of local, national or international resources, colleagues or peers; their diverse knowledge of campus issues, challenges and perspectives relating to faculty academic freedom and student accessibility and affordability; and other forms of mission-driven assistance.
