Born and raised in Morocco, Hanane Mahla emigrated to the US speaking little to no English. While raising her two children and having family responsibilities, Hanane decided to continue her education and ultimately studied ESL at NCC. Last spring, she received her Associate Degree in Accounting with the distinction of Summa Cum Laude. Hanane proudly wears the Hijab as a practicing Muslim and will share her story, both the similarities with Rana el Kaliouby’s journey as well as the differences.
