What are primary sources?

Primary Sources are original documents or artifacts that were created during the time period being studied. They provide a first-hand account of historical events, as well as the social, political, and economic context in which historical events occurred. 

Examples of Primary Sources include newspapers, speeches, photographs, personal letters and diaries, and video footage.
