Recruitment & Retention

When a position becomes available for hiring at your library, you should strive to advertise the position in places that will reach job-seekers who are diverse and who come from historically marginalized communities. Here are some suggestions for places to recruit:

No cost:

• Connecticut Library Consortium: Posting here is free for CLC members.
• ELUNA Job Board: Through the CSCU Library Consortium's ELUNA membership, post here is no-cost.
• INALJ (I Need a Library Job): This privately maintained site offers free posting options as well as for-a-fee options.
• Library Jobline: This site is maintained by Colorado State Library in cooperation with the Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services.
• North Carolina Central University: This HBCU's School of Library and Information Sciences will post jobs to its MLS students.

Fee required:

• ACRL/ALA: Posting options begin at $249.
• APALA: The job board for the Asian-Pacific American Librarians Association. Fee options start at $199.
• ARL: To post to the Association of Research Libraries' job board, non-ARL libraries must pay a one-time fee of $250.
• Black Caucus, American Library Association: Posting here requires payment of a fee. Fee options start at $249.
• Chinese American Librarians Association: Posting here entails payment of a $100 membership fee.
• The Joint Council of Librarians of Color: ?
• Rainbow Roundtable: ?
• REFORMA: The job board for the National Association to Promote Library & Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking. Posting here requires payment of a $100 membership fee.
• We Here: We Here supports the BIPOC library and information science community. Job postings cost $50.
