The CT Open Educational Resources (OER) Coordinating Council has just published its 2024 Legislative Report. Filled with images and quotes from students whose lives and learning have been impacted by OER, the report discusses the work of the council and the status of OER in Connecticut.
A focus of the report is the state’s elimination in 2023 of funding for the council and it’s grant program. During the years in which funding was provided, the council’s OER grant program saved 10,000 CT students $1.2 million in textbook costs – a ROI 5.23x for the state. The report recommends restoration of funding and highlights that, without state funding, this grant program will need to be discontinued.
