The CT Open Educational Resources (OER) Coordinating Council requests your feedback on a first draft of an OER Model Policy. The draft is accessible at this link, and the council asks for input by November 30, 2024.

The draft is in response to Public Act No. 23-151, which charged the council with developing an OER Model Policy for CT colleges and universities to consider adopting. The Act specifies that the Model Policy must establish: (A) definitions for terms related to OER; (B) methods for data collection concerning the use and availability of OER; and (C) ways to present course catalogs to students that clearly identify each course utilizing OER.

There are several ways for you to provide feedback by November 30 (and you are not limited to just one option):

Questions or comments should be referred to members of the working group charged with developing the draft:

  • Patrick Carr, Program Manager for Library Consortium Operations at the Connecticut State Colleges & Universities System (patrick.carr@ct.edu)
  • Lígia Correia, Adjunct Professor at the University of New Haven (lcorreia@newhaven.edu)
  • Paula Dowd, Academic Dean of Nursing and Health Careers at Connecticut State Community College (paula.dowd@ctstate.edu)
  • Tina Huey, Associate Director of Faculty Development at University of Connecticut (tina.huey@uconn.edu)
  • Peter Kootsookos, Instructor, Engineering & Computer Science at CT State Community College Middlesex (peter.kootsookos@ctstate.edu)
  • Jillian Maynard, Reference and Instruction Librarian at Central CT State University (j.maynard@ccsu.edu)
  • Jeanette Moore, Coordinator, Praxis Study Center and Adjunct Professor of Education and Educational Psychology, Western CT State University (moorej@wcsu.edu)
  • Kevin Redline, Scholarly Communications, Research & Instruction Librarian at Quinnipiac University (kevin.redline@quinnipiac.edu)
