ECED 2515 Research Assignment

You will be researching the laws, regulations, and practices around inclusion in the public school system, the Birth to Three System, and/or the community-based early childhood programs. You will be asked to consider:

  • Laws and regulations
  • Structural inequities and ethics in programs for young children with developmental delays and disabilities.
  • Meaningful, inclusive teaching practices.
  • Range of services for young children with developmental delays or disabilities.
  • The connection between Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) regulation and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Identify a minimum of five reliable and varied sources to review on these topics. Your sources should be current to be appropriate for this assignment. (Resources will include a personal interview, a field visit to an inclusive classroom, and a minimum of three other resources which may include but are not limited to: appropriate published research studies; federal and state legislation or public policy; journal articles; videos, websites, etc). You are encouraged to consider some of the resources available through the course syllabus or Blackboard shell. Include at least one local, government or community resource.
