Search Our Catalog

Searching the Catalog

To see if Capital owns a specific title, or to look up an item’s call number, you will need to access the the library catalog. The catalog is an index which identifies what the library owns and where items are located.

The library catalog is accessible from any computer with an Internet connection. Although you are accessing the catalog through the internet, it is very different than conducting a search in Google, Bing, or Yahoo. Since the catalog only identifies library materials, items that librarians or faculty have purchased, you can safely assume that the information is more reliable than the information you obtain from an Internet search engine.

Take a moment to examine the various search options available through the catalog. What information are you looking for? What information do you already know? This will help you to determine the search option to select.
