Claudia’s research was conducted as part of her ARTH 1002 course taught by Professor Shapiro. Committee members praised Claudia’s ability to weave historical context with visual analysis, noting her skill at engaging with complex themes of feminism, cultural representation, and societal change through East Asian art. Claudia’s paper demonstrates a deep understanding of the evolving portrayal of women across Chinese, Japanese, and Korean artworks, as well as her capacity to critically analyze how these artworks reflect and challenge patriarchal norms. Claudia’s paper exemplifies the meticulous research, nuanced analysis, and critical thinking expected at the college level, making her a deserving recipient of this recognition.
