General Guidelines
- Please dress and act in a way that projects a positive image of the library and the college (i.e., dress neatly, treat others with respect, refrain from profanity, etc)
- If you are unable to make it to work, you must notify someone at the library. Call the circulation desk at 215-9051 as soon as possible to let them know you will not be coming in to work. If it is before the library is open, leave a message.
- Please do not eat at the circulation desk
- Please do not use headphones at the circulation desk
- If you work more than 7 hours, you must take an unpaid half hour break
- If you work 4 or more hours, you are entitled to a 15 minute break
Opening Procedures
- Fill printers with paper
- Check staplers
- Empty book drops and discharge books
- Reshelve returns
- Check in newspapers
- Check that C-225 is unlocked
Regular Duties
- Cover the circulation desk
- Answer the telephone
- Log in community patrons
- Assist students with logging in to the computer or printing
- Charge and discharge books and reserve materials
- Troubleshoot printer as needed
- Shelve books
- Shelf read
- Dust or tidy up assigned area
- Any other projects assigned by library staff
Closing Procedures
- Fill printers with paper
- Check staplers
- Check study rooms upstairs to ensure they are all locked
- Push in chairs, turn off individual table lights, put loose papers in recycling
- 15 minutes before closing, alert all remaining patrons that library will be closing
- Log off circulation desk computer just before closing
