Student Library Assistants play a crucial role in the successful functioning of the library by providing front-line immediate assistance to students during all of the library's hours. Student workers fulfill a number of basic library services, such as checking out books, laptops and other materials; providing computer assistance; processing library materials, completing other projects such as collection and catalog maintenance, and directing students to professional staff as needed. This allows professional staff to use their time more efficiently by focusing on providing the full range of library services and activities, including collection development and maintenance, library instruction, research assistance, cataloging, acquisitions, interlibrary loan services, website maintenance, instructional material creation, committee work, and collaboration with other CSCU Library Staff to improve and expand library services.
