Articles 101

Use the library databases to find articles on your topic. You may start with a general database, or select a subject-specific one  - such as a Psychology or Health database - depending on your topic.

Most article databases have the option to limit your search to only scholarly articles (be sure to check the box that says "peer-reviewed, "scholarly", or "refereed") as well as limiting by document type, age group, publication date, full-text, and more.

For many assignments, you may be asked to to find only scholarly (or academic) articles. These articles are written by researchers or professionals, have been reviewed by scholars (you may also see the words "peer-reviewed" or "refereed"), and are found in academic and research journals.

Have an article citation but not sure how to find it?  Looking for a certain title for your class? Try looking up the journal or magazine in the database below, to see if the library subscribes to the full-text.
