Naugatuck Valley Job Shadow a Librarian

Job Shadow a Librarian

Have you ever thought about working in a library?

This program will allow you to spend some time shadowing one of the NVCC librarians to see what it is like to work at an academic library. Academic librarians do many different things- from working behind the scenes on the library computer system, to checking out books, to helping students with research projects. Many library jobs require at least an associate's degree, and becoming a librarian requires a master's degree. Checking it out now will help you decide if it is the career for you!

What is job shadowing?

Job shadowing is a great way to see what a job is really like before deciding on getting a degree or training. Job shadowing means spending an hour, a few hours, or a whole day with someone so that you can learn what their job is like and ask questions. Job shadowing can also provide you with networking opportunities and show you what skills you might need to be successful in a position.
