The embedded librarian model is a way to work with your students within Blackboard so library support is available right where students find all of their course content. Services provided include:
In a typical Blackboard course (online or in-person), an Embedded Librarian will have a module named "Library Resources" which will have links to a research guide, the library catalog, databases and short videos (such as information literacy videos explaining library resources) to help students be better prepared for their assignments and exams.

A short 10-minute visit to your classroom or online. This is best for brief demonstrations of the resources on the library website, locating a required resource, or contacting the library for further information. In an online class this could be a one-time, synchronous Q&A chat session or a single facilitated discussion on your discussion board. It introduces students to a specific person so that they may be more apt to contact the librarian for research help.

A research guide, or libguide, is a customized library website created specifically for your course. Research guides may point out specific books, databases, and websites for your discipline.
The library website can be overwhelming. There are many databases and resources and students don't always know where to begin. By starting with a libguide specific to their course, students can quickly locate course-related resources. The guide can be linked within a Blackboard course site to make access easy for students. Students can return to it over and over as needed.
Sample research guide: Minimum Wage (ENG1010)

A recorded video tutorial can cover any research-related topic such as using a specific database, finding scholarly articles or citation format. Tutorials are created using Kaltura Capture and can be easily embedded in a Blackboard site or research guide. These are short three-minute videos that students can watch from any device.
Sample video tutorial: Finding Biographies in the Library Databases
