The Donald R. Welter Library at Three Rivers campus of the CT State Community College has created an exhibition space called the Diversity 365 Gallery. We received funding from the Three Rivers College Foundation to purchase art for a permanent collection for this gallery. The art that the gallery features celebrates and explores the themes of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The process for choosing art for the permanent collection has included hosting a series of Diversity 365 exhibitions over several semesters.
Exhibition 1 opened on February 1, 2022 and ran through mid-April 2022. The show featured two-dimensional work from twelve faculty members representing eight colleges in the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) system. The press release about the show and a virtual gallery of the exhibition can be viewed here: Exhibition 1
Exhibition 2 opened on October 12, 2022 and ran through December 12, 2022. The show featured two-dimensional art from non-faculty CSCU staff and students. The show included nine works from seven artists representing seven different campuses in the CSCU system. The work selected for Exhibition 2 can be viewed here: Exhibition 2.
Exhibition 3 opened on February 15, 2023 and ran through April 17, 2023. The show was open to all who live or work in the State of Connecticut. The show features the work from five Connecticut artists. The show can be viewed virtually: Exhibition 3.
The selection committee began its purchase of art for the library’s permanent collection for the Diversity 365 Gallery during the Spring 2023 semester and has now finished its work. Please feel free to stop by and view the art in the gallery any time during regular semester hours, or, you can view the work virtually here: The Permanent Collection.
