Why make QVCC your Start Up Page?

Save time--every time!  Set your browser to automatically open to the QVCC homepage or the QVCC Library homepage.  You'll be able to quickly access MyCommnet to log into your college email or Blackboard; you'll also be able to use the top navigation menu to find advisors, financial aid and scholarship information, reach tutors in the Learning Center, and reach library staff for assistance. Keep QVCC at your fingertips!

Browser-Specific Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open the Google Chrome browser and navigate to either:Google Chrome Logo

  1. To customize Google Chrome settings, click the “more” icon (look forGoogle Chrome Icon to Access Settings and Options three dots, located in the upper right of the browser window) and select “Settings
  1. Scroll down to: “On startup”
  1. Select the “radio” button:Google Chrome Radio Button to open a specific page or set of pages
  1. Select the option:

Use current pages

  1. Close all tabs
  1. Reopen the browser.  Your browser will now automatically launch the QVCC page you specified.

  1. If you have a fast internet connection, you can add more startup pages using the same steps.
  1. Open the Mozilla Firefox browser and navigate to either:Mozilla Firefox Logo

  1. To customize Firefox settings, click the “menu” button (look for threeMozilla Firefox Menu Icon lines, located in the upper right) and select “Options
  1. On the left, click to activate the “Home” panel. Mozilla FIrefox Home Panel
  1. Open the drop-down menu next to “Homepage and new windows” and choose “Custom URLs”

  1. Close all tabs
  1. Reopen the browser.  Your browser will now automatically launch the QVCC Library homepage.
  1. If you have a fast internet connection, you can add more startup pages using the same steps.
  1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser and navigate to either:Microsoft Edge Log

  1. To customize Edge settings, click the “ellipses” button (look for three Microsoft Edge Ellipses Icondots, located in the upper right) and select “Settings
  1. On the left, under “Settings,” choose “On startup”
  1. Select the “radio” button:

  1.  Look down and to the right and choose “Use all open tabs”

  1. Close all tabs
  1. Reopen the browser.  Your browser will now automatically launch the QVCC Library homepage.

  1. If you have a fast internet connection, you can add more startup pages using the same steps.
  1. Open Apple’s Safari browser and navigate to either:Safari Logo

  1. To customize your Safari settings, choose the “Safari” app (upper left on your desktop, next to the Apple logo ) and select “Preferences” from the drop-down menuApple App Logo

  1. Below the “Homepage” box, click “set to current page”

  1. Then, in the same dialog window, tell Safari to open new windows and/or new tabs to your new homepage:

  1. Close all tabs
  1. Reopen the browser.  Your browser will now automatically launch the QVCC Library homepage.
