Housatonic Echo Smartpen

To clear your information from the pen

Before you return your SmartPen to the library, it is important to clear all of your personal information from the Pen.

To do this:

  1. Plug the SmartPen into any computer with the Echo Desktop software (note: all library computers are equipped with this software)
  2. Open the Echo Desktop and wait for your Pen to be recognized and transfer data
  3. Click Tools > SmartPen > Revert
  4. Echo Desktop will ask if you are sure you would like to revert the Pen to its factory settings.  You may click Revert Smartpen.
  5. The screen on the Pen will say "Starting ..." as it goes through the process of deleting your information.  Please wait for this to finish and the Pen to go back to showing the time.  This may take several minutes.

To clear your information from the Echo Desktop

After you have cleared your information from the SmartPen, you should delete any Notebooks you created in Echo Desktop.

Please leave the Notebook titled "Tutorial" 

You must first Archive your notebooks, then Delete them.

To Archive your Notebooks:

  1. Plug the SmartPen in to a computer with the Echo Desktop software
  2. Right click on your Notebook
  3. Click Archive Notebook
  4. Click OK to confirm
  5. Click Archive Notebook

 

To Delete your archived Notebooks:

  1. Right click the archived Notebook
  2. Click Delete Notebook
  3. Click Yes
  4. Click OK
