From the start page of Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com), select the down arrow to the right of the search box.

Now you should see the advanced search settings. 

Notice all the ways you can now narrow down your search.

For example, “Return articles published in” lets you search for articles published in particular journals.

By adding the word “sociology” we ensure that the only articles that in our results will be from sociology journals.
