If you are a Housatonic student and you need to borrow a laptop or an internet hotspot to use for your schoolwork, the Housatonic Library would love to help! Laptop and hotspot request forms open on the first day of registration for each semester.
Once the semester starts, you will have 1 week to come to the Housatonic Library and pick up the laptop or hotspot that has been assigned to you. If you do not come pick up within that week, the technology will be moved to the next person on the waitlist.

How do I sign up for a laptop or hotspot? Sign up begins on the first day of registration for the semester you need the technology. You'll need to register for the specific semester you want to borrow the laptop for, then click the link above to sign up for the tech you would like to borrow.
When will I know if a laptop or hotspot is available for me? You'll receive an email to your CT State email account approximately one week before the semester starts letting you know a laptop or hotspot is available for you to pick up.
How long do I have to pick up my laptop or hotspot after receiving the availability email? You have one week from the date of the email to pick up your tech. If you don't pick it up within that timeframe, it will be given to the next person on the waitlist.
How long can I keep the laptop or hotspot? You can keep the tech until the last day of the semester. All technology must be returned by that date.
What if I need a laptop or hotspot for the next semester too? You must sign up again for the next semester and return your current laptop by the due date. There is no automatic renewal or rollover from one semester to the next.
Is there a waitlist for laptops and hotspots? If all laptops or hotspots are currently checked out, you'll be placed on a waitlist and contacted when one becomes available.
What happens if I don't return the laptop on time? Be sure to return your laptop by the last day of the semester to avoid holds on your Banner account. If you return a laptop or hotspot late, you will not be able to borrow a laptop or hotspot until at least two weeks into the next semester. If you return a laptop or hotspot late more than once, you will be banned from borrowing technology from the library.
Where do I pick up and return the laptop? Laptops are picked up and returned at the circulation desk during regular operating hours.
What's included with the laptop? The laptop comes with a charger and carrying case. You're responsible for all items checked out to you.
What if the laptop breaks or malfunctions? Contact the library immediately if you experience any technical issues. Do not attempt to repair the laptop yourself. We'll assess whether it's normal wear and tear or damage that may result in fees.
Can I install my own software on the laptop? No, you may not install anything on the library's laptops.
What if I need to withdraw from classes or leave school during the semester? You must return the laptop to the library within 24 hours of withdrawing from classes.
