Mission:
Quinebaug Valley Community College Library supports the information and research needs of students, faculty, staff, and the community by providing robust and diverse collections and services; innovative and inclusive campus spaces; and an environment that supports equity, inspires lifelong learning, and contributes to professional, academic, and personal growth.
Values:
The library supports the core values of librarianship espoused in the policy statements of the American Library Association, including: the Freedom to Read, the Library Bill of Rights, accessibility, intellectual freedom, and diversity. Library staff abide by the ethical principles that guide the work of the profession, as expressed in the ALA Code of Ethics. Within the framework of the larger college institution, the library is committed to its role in working toward equity, identifying and intentionally addressing structural racism, systemic poverty, and other forms of marginalization, upholding the expectation that library staff act as anti-racist institutional change agents to remove and reduce barriers that negatively impact student success and ensuring that students receive targeted library resources and services to achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals.
