How to Locate a Book at CT State Northwestern

From the library home page, Search the Northwestern Library Catalog.

Notice the dropdown menu to the right of the search box.

Use the dropdown menu to change the search setting from Electronic Resources to NCCC Catalog (Books and DVDs).

Enter your search in the box. In this case, we will be using George Washington. Click enter to start the search.

Before you start looking at your search results, click on Sign In (in the upper right-hand corner):

Then click on “Community College signon” and enter your Net ID and password (Just like you were logging in to My CT State Portal):

The results list will contain books, articles, etc., and you want a book. To limit your results to just books, click on “Available at NCCC” on the left-hand side of the page:

HELPFUL HINT: If you want to look at the newest books first, click on Sort by and select Date-newest:

Look through the result list to see titles that you may find interesting. Keep in mind that the record should say “Available at” in green. If it does not say this, the book may be checked out, and you may want to search the entire CSCU Consortium

Finally, look at the results to get the section and call number of the book, if it’s available. The call number is like the address of the book, telling you where exactly it sits on the shelves so you can easily locate the item.
