You log on to your Blackboard course site (online or on-ground) via MyCTState at my.ctstate.edu
1. Open a web browser (ex. Google Chrome) by double-clicking the browser icon on your desktop. Go to the address box and type my.ctstate.edu. Press Enter key.
2. Enter your NetID and password. For students, the NetID is firstname.lastname@ctstate.edu. For example, if your name is Jenny Brown, your NetID is jenny.brown@ctstate.edu. If your NetID does not work, go to the NetID Lookup page, enter your personal information: Last Name, Birth Date, and Last 4-digit of your Social Security Number. You will then be able to locate your NetID.
3. The password is the same password when you logon to a campus computer at any 12 Connecticut community colleges. If you have never logged on to a campus computer or MyCTState, click on First-Time Login Assistance link.
4. Click on the Login button.
5. When you have successfully logged on to my.ctstate.edu, click on the Blackboard link. You will enter the Blackboard Institution Page. To access Blackboard successfully, you need to make sure all pop-up blockers are disabled.
6. Click on the Courses link on the left panel, you will see your class listed on the page. Click on a class Title to enter the class site. - SEVEN days before the first day of a class, you are able to enter the class site.
7. To enter to another class, click on the X icon at upper left corner to close the current course. Click on the Courses link (left panel). Click on the Title of the course you want to get in next.

Common problems when logging on to Blackboard
The followings are common errors you may see if you attempt to enter your Blackboard class through myCTState (https://my.ctstate.edu).
Error 1: When you click on the Blackboard icon on MyCTState entry page, you see a blank screen or a small box appears and disappears quickly and you don't see the next page.
This problem might be caused by the pop-up blockers "built in" your web browser or software on your computer. In your browser, either disable the popup blocker or allow "https://ctccs.blackboard.com" and "https://my.ctstate.edu" in the Blocker setting.

Solution to Error 2: Contact Distance learning at 860-343-5756 or mxccdistance@mxcc.commnet.edu and provide your name, Banner ID, and course information with five-digit course reference number (CRN), title, and term.
Reset your password to the initial password
(1) Reset your password on your own at https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com.
(2) Stop by with your ID or call the following office (Mon-Fri, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm) to make your request. Make sure you bring a Photo ID when you stop by one of the following offices.
