Manchester Makerspace at Damato Library

The Raymond F. Damato Library Makerspace advances the library mission by providing the campus community with accessible space, tools, and expertise to foster creativity, innovation, inquiry and connection.

Makerspace Policies and Expectations

Official guidelines for Connecticut State Community College Makerspace users

Core Expectations

1
Safety First: Behave in an appropriate and safe manner, comply with the Makerspace safety policies, and report any equipment hazards or unsafe behavior to library staff immediately.
2
Follow Instructions: Follow manufacturer instructions and Makerspace directions for equipment use. Ask questions if Makerspace equipment directions are unclear. Students may be liable for any damage caused by improper use of the equipment.
3
Lawful Use: Use Makerspace exclusively for lawful purposes that respect the policies of Connecticut State Community College and CSCU as well as safety and well-being of the campus community.
4
Cleanliness: Keep the area clean and leave it in the same or better condition as found prior to use; no food is allowed, but drinks in covered containers are permitted.
5
Time Management: Wrap up projects in a timely fashion.

Access and Usage

Eligible Users: The Makerspace is open to current Connecticut State Community College students, faculty and staff. Priority of use will be given to Manchester campus-affiliated users.
Space Usage: While students may use the Makerspace as a study area, it is intended for making or crafting, not general studying. Reservations take priority for using the space so you may be asked to leave if a class or club has reserved the space.
Commercial Use: The Makerspace is not intended for commercial use or mass production.
Group Access: Appointments for projects that don't require use of the equipment are not necessary. For groups larger than 6 people, email advance notice so that the Makerspace staff can best accommodate you.
Prohibited Items: We reserve the right to refuse access for the creation of weapons, contraband, or other items in violation of campus policy or the Student Code of Conduct.
The Library gratefully acknowledges the MCC Foundation and the estate of Raymond F. Damato for providing the funding to support the library's makerspace.
