Introducing the Recording Booth

Ready to launch your podcast? Looking for a professional space to record crystal-clear audio? The Damato Library is proud to offer a brand-new podcasting studio designed for creators, storytellers, and innovators like you! Use the equipment to make quick, simple recordings or high-production podcasts with pre-recorded clips, sound effects, and more with up to two participants. The studio is best used for individual voiceover work, podcast recording, interviews, and audio or video post-production and editing. 

Equipment

Our booth is equipped with the following:

  • Two high-quality microphones (RØDE PodMic)
  • Two sets of headphones (Sony MDR-7506)
  • Intuitive controls
  • One-touch recording to a microSD card or computer using USB
    • MicroSD cards are not provided, please use your own. Alternatively, the library staff will loan you one on a short-term basis, but it must be returned.
  • RØDECaster Duo mixer which includes:
    • Six programmable physical sound effects pads for instant playback of sound effects, music, intro and outros, etc.
    • Direct recording to a pad from any of the RØDECaster Pro’s inputs or play audio from another device using USB or Bluetooth.
    • Bluetooth connection for another device (such as a phone) to conduct interviews or play audio.


 If you would like to connect the RØDECaster Duo to a computer, your system must be macOS 10.15 or later, Windows 10 version 1803 or later, or Windows 11.

Using the Recording Booth

How do I use the podcasting studio?

  1.  Reserve the studio/booth in advance. 
  2.  Pick up the room key at the library’s circulation desk.
  3. First-time users are required to meet with a staff member who will provide a short orientation to the studio equipment.
  4. Students may reserve the studio/booth for up to two hours per day.
  5. Users must agree to abide by the following usage policies:
    1. The booth is limited to a maximum of 2 users at one time.
    2. Equipment is to remain plugged in and in its location within the booth. Adjustments to equipment require staff supervision. Users may adjust microphones levels as needed.
    3. It is the user's responsibility to save recording data and secure it before they leave the space. 
    4. Users are responsible for the state of the room and equipment up until checked out by a staff member. Fines may be assessed for damaged or missing equipment.
