The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program is designed to develop the competencies and knowledge required for entering the field of Physical Therapy. This program will provide fundamental and theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills to prepare you to assume the role of the PTA. According to the CT State PTA program webpage, the PTA program "prepares the student to be a licensed health care professional who works under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist providing physical therapy interventions and associated data collection techniques. Interventions include therapeutic exercise, physical modalities, and other specialized clinical skills needed in a variety of settings such as acute care hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, subacute and long-term care facilities, outpatient physical therapy clinics, school systems, and home care settings."
The Physical Therapy Research Guide, a collection of resources designed to support your academic work in physical therapy so you can quickly access the resources you need. This guide contains information on how to find books, articles, reference sources, and more in the field of physical therapy, and many are available through the Norwalk Campus Library's print and online resources. This guide is intended to help you find the most important and useful resources for physical therapy research. Each section will bring you closer to a resource selected by a librarian specifically for this subject. If you have any questions, use the chat box in the bottom right corner to connect with a librarian or schedule a one-on-one research appointment (virtual or in-person) for more in-depth research help.
