How to Place a Consortium Loan Request
Search the catalog for materials located at Consortium partner libraries. Be sure to select “Search all CSCU Libraries” in the drop down menu next to the search bar.
Sign into your account.
Click on the item you would like to request, and scroll down to “Request this Item” in the record. If the item is available at Tunxis, your screen will look like the example below. Click “Request From Tunxis” and submit the request. Library staff will then have the item prepared for pickup. You will be notified by email when the item is ready for pickup.
If the item is not available at Tunxis but available from a Consortium partner, your screen will look like the example below.
Click “Request from Tunxis Partner,” and submit your request.
You will receive an email when the item is available for pickup, or if the request is cancelled for any reason. Please note that the majority of the libraries’ collections are requestable, however, some collections are not available to consortia borrowers. In this case, you will not see the “request” button. You may request the item by filling out the form for interlibrary loan here.
Use this form to request an item unavailable in a Consortium library.
We provide extensive interlibrary loan services to Tunxis students, faculty and staff. Using a variety of databases, library staff identify and borrow materials from thousands of libraries nationwide.
Please check the Tunxis Library Catalog and Online Resources to make sure we do not already own or have access to the item prior to initiating a request.
Student requests are limited to 5 items per month. The length of time needed to obtain materials varies. Most items can be obtained in about 7 days. There are times when materials arrive earlier and times when it takes longer. Please plan accordingly.
Note: Faculty, staff, and students enrolled at other institutions of higher education are encouraged to explore the availability of collections and services at their place of study.
Copyright law limits the number of photocopied articles that can be borrowed through interlibrary loan. Once we have reached our limit, we will inform you what the closest library owning that title is.
