Mission Statement

Lecture HallThe Educational Technology Department serves as a resource for faculty and staff looking to enrich the quality of education at Gateway Community College through the proper application of technologies both on and off campus. Our department is responsible for maintaining the 117 classrooms on campus as well as providing technical support as needed while working to anticipate the technological needs of our faculty, staff, and students.

General services include faculty/staff training, event support, classroom support, campus-wide digital signage, audio/video conversion and duplication, video and multimedia production, and lecture capture. We also provide support utilizing our TV Studio and our Smart products like Smart TVs and Smart Boards.

In addition to the services mentioned, we provide open computer labs accessible to all students year round. These are open during normal school hours, providing students with a quiet space to study and work on assignments. The labs are monitored by our student workers who can provide assistance as needed.

To request any of our services or equipment in advance, please navigate here for access to our request forms.

Faculty Training

Ed Tech is offering online faculty training in WebEx and Microsoft Teams.

The Education Technology department is committed to providing as much support as possible to our faculty and staff so that we can pull together and continue moving forward as a college. We are offering one-on-one training sessions in using WebEx and Microsoft Teams so that classes can continue to run in our new environment. Our staff is experienced in these trainings, and will answer any questions or concerns you may have, no matter your experience level with the software or technology as a whole.

By leveraging either of these tools, you gain the ability to:

  • host & attend live online lectures & meetings
  • share content on your screen in real-time for advanced student engagement
  • record meetings in a video file format, which can then be posted to BlackBoard
  • create a virtual classroom space to share files, have discussions, and post information

Please be sure to visit our COVID-19 Response page for our training documents and more information about our services.

To schedule a training session with one of our staff members or for more information, please contact department coordinator Alfonzo Lewis at alewis@gatewayct.edu.
