About Our Library

Library Classroom Use

The primary use of the Library Computer Classroom is for library instruction and training classes taught by library staff at HCC. For the majority of the semester, the room is actively used by librarians for this purpose. It cannot be reserved weeks in advance, or on a semester or weekly basis, due to rolling signups and the consistent flow of library instruction sessions. By necessity, there are blocked off time periods when the classroom is unavailable.

The library seeks to maximize the use of this instruction venue when it is not being used by our staff. The conference room is opened up to the community at the discretion of the library staff. Our policy is to ensure that it is available to all potential users in a fair and equitable manner. We reserve the right to deny the use of the room on a case by case basis

The staff gives preference to instructors who wish to provide access to library resources for students during class time sometimes referred to as in-library research. In some cases, the classroom is made available for general on-campus training. Noncollege community groups are not permitted to reserve or use this space.

The Library Classroom and Conference room are not a part of the pool of community computer classrooms available to faculty and staff. Those community rooms can be reserved through the EMS service at the college.

The person who reserves the room is responsible for:

  • Adhering to the agreed-upon hours of the reservation
  • Shutting down the computer equipment
  • Removing all trash and left over paperwork
  • Locking the door
