Manchester Common Read Selection for 2024-25
Time is a Mother, is a collection of poems by acclaimed author Ocean Vuong that addresses themes of family history, grief, loss, and identity. Vuong immigrated to Connecticut from Vietnam as a child and attended Manchester Community College at the beginning of his academic career. He received the T.S. Eliot Prize in 2017, was a 2019 MacArthur fellow, and received an honorary degree from Manchester Community College in 2023.

Understanding Gaza Guide
This guide was created by Prof. Gina Ocasion and Debbie Herman to empower students, faculty and staff to learn and research the historical, political, and cultural context of recent events in Gaza and Israel. In addition to suggested readings and films, it includes a section for educators as well as links to campus supports.
