For more than 25 years, Susan Lugli has successfully hired, managed and motivated employees and teams—giving her a unique insight into the knowledge, traits and skills businesses look for in their employees.
Sue has held a wide variety of management and marketing positions in Fortune 500 and privately held companies, entrepreneurial ventures, as well as nonprofit organizations. She has worked in the financial, consumer products, retail and technology industries. As a consultant, she led a new product Internet launch for one of America’s oldest consumer product brands.
Her work experience included managing the entire life cycle of a product, from concept development, market research, sourcing, pricing, production, promotion, sales, and order fulfillment, to measuring customer satisfaction. This unique perspective enabled her to create, execute and support marketing strategies that drove long-term success. In addition, she has extensive sales and marketing experience rolling out and managing product lines with mass-market retailers and major grocery chains.
Sue draws upon this extensive business background to create compelling, hands-on learning experiences for her students. She loves to combine technology (podcasts, videos, lectures, research articles, etc.), community engagement and social entrepreneurship into her coursework as well.
Sue enjoys the reciprocal nature of teaching, and appreciates the diverse and wide-ranging knowledge and experience her students bring to the classroom. Her goals are to expand each student’s perspective, spark curiosity and help them gain the skills and knowledge to obtain their personal and professional goals.
She also values partnerships with local nonprofit organizations which allow students to work on “real-world” marketing and business projects. These positive experiences bring a new dimension to students’ education—possibly affecting their careers and lives overall.
In 2004, Sue began teaching business and economics at Southern Maine Community College. A proponent of well-crafted online learning, she created SMCC’s first online courses. She also taught graduate and undergraduate marketing and consumer behavior courses at Southern New Hampshire University, and Principles of Marketing and Internet Marketing at Post University in Waterbury, Conn.
Sue earned an MBA degree from Southern New Hampshire University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Bridgeport.
When not on campus, she loves to travel and spend time at her Maine home.
