Middlesex Alumni Stories

Middlesex alumni are thoughtful and productive members of the community. Here are some of the unique stories of these diverse and talented former students.

MIDDLETOWN ARTS ADVOCATE

Richard Kamins,  MxCC 1968

Richard Kamins was a member of the first graduating class (1968) of Middlesex Community College and a former member of the MxCCRichard Kamins Foundation board of directors.

Following Middlesex, he received a B.A. in English from the University of Connecticut in 1974 and later an M.A.L.S. from Wesleyan University in 1993.

At Middlesex, Richard remembers meeting and learning from many fine educators and taking part in the college’s first dramatic production, Arsenic and Old Lace.

Richard worked as a wine and liquor retailer and owner from 1971 to 2005. He also taught as an adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University while serving the community as an arts advocate for the Middletown Commission on the Arts. He is the host of N’Shoma, a weekly Jewish news radio show on WLIS-AM & WMRD-AM, and is an actor and co-director of Reader’s Theater.
